Health-fund refund for new mothers

How much do you get for a maternity recovery stay?

The refund is usually 75%–80% of the actual cost, up to a daily ceiling of roughly ₪310 to ₪471 — depending on the fund and insurance tier — over about 3 days (up to 5 after a cesarean in some funds). It is a partial refund, not full coverage, and the benefit exists only within the supplementary insurance.

The difference between funds isn't only the percentage — it's also the number of days, the cap, and when eligibility actually begins (by insurance tier and birth number). The table and cards below summarize all of this by fund.

Per-fund details

Points worth knowing before you book and claim.

Clalit

Mushlam Gold / Platinum
  • ~75% refund up to a daily cap of ~₪415–437, over about 3 days (5–6 after a cesarean).
  • Upper tier (Platinum) eligible from the first birth; Gold usually from the fourth.
  • In Platinum the benefit sometimes comes from the "pregnancy basket" (~₪2,000), which may already be used up by birth — worth checking.
  • Usually accepts a vacation apartment/cabin against a proper invoice in the mother's name.

Maccabi

Zahav / Sheli
  • ~75% refund up to a daily cap of ~₪437–471, over about 3 days.
  • Upper tier (Sheli) eligible from the first birth; Zahav usually from the fourth.
  • Key limitation: refund only for a recovery institution / hotel registered with the Ministry of Tourism — not a regular private apartment. Check eligibility first.

Leumit

Kesef / Zahav
  • Relatively generous: ~80% refund, up to a daily cap of ~₪310–427.
  • After a cesarean — up to 5 days, with a possible extension.
  • "In a recovery house or hotel of your choice" — relatively flexible on location.
  • Upper tier (Zahav) from the first birth; Kesef usually from the fourth.

Meuhedet

Adif / Si
  • Adif: ~75% refund "per basket", over about 3 days, usually from the fourth birth.
  • Si: the benefit usually comes from the "pregnancy basket" (~₪2,000), which may already be used up by birth.
  • Check how much is left in the "pregnancy basket" before booking.

Invoice requirements — what's needed for approval

At Shookroon Group: we issue a tax invoice in the mother's name that you can submit to your health fund for a refund. The refund amount is set according to the fund's current eligibility terms and your supplementary insurance tier.

Why not rely on a hospital recovery facility alone

The four recognized hospital recovery facilities — Baby Lis (Ichilov), Sheba Baby (Tel Hashomer), Hadassah Baby (Ein Kerem) and Baby Asaf (Shamir–Assaf Harofeh) — are all in central Israel. For a mother in the north, recovering close to home in a quiet, private apartment saves a long drive in the sensitive days after birth — while keeping the same refund eligibility with the fund.

Important: we are not a "recognized recovery hotel" unless a specific property is registered as such. We issue a tax invoice in the mother's name; recognition of the refund and its amount depend on the fund, the insurance tier and the birth number — verify with the fund before booking (especially with Maccabi).
