A private compound is a whole property — a villa or a cluster of adjacent apartments — let on exclusive use to a single group, with no other guests on site for the duration of your stay. It is the difference between renting a flat inside a building full of strangers and being handed the keys to the entire place: the living room, the kitchen, the yard, the pool and the parking.
For an extended family that difference is practical rather than symbolic. Children can run between rooms and in and out of the garden without waking anyone; you can sit outside past ten at night; you can cook a Friday dinner for twenty without coordinating with anybody; and grandma does not have to share a lift with strangers to reach her room. These are the things that actually determine whether the holiday felt good.
We offer two kinds of compound, and each follows a different logic. A single villa — one private house with a pool, a garden and a large living room — suits a family that wants to be together most of the time. A cluster of adjacent apartments — several self-contained flats in the same building or a short walk apart — suits several family units that want closeness but also their own front door, their own kitchen and their own bedtime.
The simple rule: up to about 18 guests who want to be together most of the time — take one villa. Above that, or when three generations travel together and each unit goes to bed at a different hour — take a cluster of adjacent apartments. A villa gives you one large living room and a shared pool; a cluster gives every family its own door, kitchen and bathroom, one door away from the rest.

The figures above are sleeping capacity, not seating capacity. Wood & Soul hosts up to 100 people for a daytime event in its garden and hosting space — but sleeping there is capped at 14, and that is the distinction that matters most when planning a family event with an overnight stay.
All our compounds come with hotel-grade linen and towels, a kitchen equipped for real cooking, air conditioning, and a single point of contact available throughout your stay. Cleaning is priced separately as a one-off fee per stay, not as a daily supplement.
1. What is the binding maximum occupancy? Not what the listing headline says — what the booking system actually approves. With us those are the same number.
2. Is the pool private or shared? "Pool on site" and "private pool" are two completely different things once children are involved.
3. What does it actually cost per person per night? Divide the total — cleaning included — by the number of guests and the number of nights. That is the only figure you can compare offers on.

The reverse is equally true: if you are two or four, a whole compound is a waste — you would do better with a regular family holiday apartment or an apartment for couples. A private compound starts to make financial sense from roughly 10 guests upward.
